Awsworth Parish Council is joining the local authority charging revolution in partnership with Believ
Awsworth Parish Council is leaping towards sustainability with new charge points in partnership with Believ. The move will enhance access to EV infrastructure in rural Nottinghamshire.
Cllr John Mortimer of Awsworth Parish Council, commented:
“With the ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars fast approaching, the time will come where most vehicles are electric. We need to support residents who would otherwise struggle to accommodate this shift towards sustainable transport. The groundwork has been configured so that we can easily add more charge points as EV use increases – helping us to future proof our provision.”
Believ have installed the charge points at the Awsworth village hall car park. This location serves the village hall, recreation ground, and the nearby local school. The choice reflects the council’s intent to provide practical charging solutions for both local residents and visitors.
The installation includes two types of charge points: a fast charger and a rapid contactless charger. The fast charger will cater to residents from terraced houses in the vicinity who lack private charging options. The rapid charger is designed for visitors needing a quick charge. This includes those attending brief events at the hall.
Amanda Rymell, Senior Public Sector Partnerships Manager at Believ, added:
“Our philosophy is to ensure that no one is left behind in the switch to electric transport. This means we must ensure that EV charging infrastructure is in place to give everyone the opportunity to own and enjoy an EV, and not just in UK towns or cities.”
