Austria is getting an EV charging upgrade with new Mer and MPREIS partnership

  • Mer is partnering with MPREIS to add up to 64 fast-charging points at locations across Austria.
  • Each station will offer high-speed charging up to 400 kW and use 100% green electricity for sustainability.
  • Charging stations will be conveniently located at key traffic hubs, with amenities like cafes and restrooms for drivers.

Mer and MPREIS partner to install EV charge points across Austria

Mer is expanding its fast-charging network in Austria through a new partnership with MPREIS, a Tyrolean food retailer. This collaboration will bring up to 64 new charging points to MPREIS locations in both urban and rural areas.

The new stations will feature up to six fast-charging points at each location. These chargers offer up to 400 kW of power, enabling quick and efficient charging. Drivers can use the Mer ConnectME app, a standard roaming card, or their debit or credit card to charge their vehicles. Additionally, all the charging points will provide 100% green electricity, supporting sustainable energy use.

Anton Achatz, Managing Director at Mer Austria, commented:

“We are delighted to partner with MPREIS and to support them in their continuous commitment to sustainability. MPREIS branches are located on busy roads as well as in city centres and tourist hotspots. They therefore offer a perfect location to further promote emobility in Austria.”

The first phase of the expansion will see 33 charging stations installed in the coming years, mostly in Tyrol. The locations will be strategically placed at key traffic hubs and major routes, making them convenient for long-distance travellers.

MPREIS Managing Director, David Mölk, added:

“Sustainability is one of the cornerstones of MPREIS. Therefore, we not only see great potential in the expansion of the charging infrastructure at our locations, but also consider this to be a valuable contribution to the mobility transition.”

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in Austria’s emobility sector, with the hope of continued collaboration and expansion to come.
