Audi has taken the covers off its long awaited A2 e-tron, heralding the return of the A2 model after the original generation was discontinued over 20 years ago. Just like the original, which was touted for its segment-leading fuel efficiency, the fully-electric generation of the A2 looks to have a similar focus on efficiency, with an ultra-low drag coefficient and an impressively low energy consumption of 12.8 kWh per 100 kilometres.

Following an A2 EV restomod concept back in 2024 and Audi confirming earlier this year that the vehicle would return, the manufacturer has now revealed the A2 e-tron in full, with first deliveries to customers set to begin in 2027.
Design-wise, the new A2 e-tron certainly pays tribute to the original, a shape that assisted it in its fuel efficiency. The shape here is also highly efficient – a controllable cool-air intake, smoothed underbody, wing-shaped door handles, and smaller gaps between the wheel and wheel arch all help the new model towards achieving a drag coefficient of only 0.24Cd. That’s the lowest in any of Audi’s compact car lineup, and also beats the original A2’s drag coefficient.


The A2 e-tron will be available in three different battery capacities. The 52 and 61 kWh battery packs use LFP cells, while the range-topping 84 kWh battery pack uses NMC chemistry, offering a maximum range of 645 kilometres (401 miles). That range figure is seriously impressive in the compact EV space, beating other long range compact EVs such as the Volkswagen ID.3 Neo, and will make it one of the longest range electric cars you can buy.
Audi has already confirmed UK pricing for the A2 e-tron, with a starting price of £32,200 once order books open next month. This will also make it the most affordable fully-electric Audi on sale.
