2025 is round the corner, and with another year gone by, an increasing number of seriously capable, used EVs are dropping to record low prices. The price of used EVs has now dropped below the price of their used ICE-powered counterparts, and that’s translated to a remarkable 57% year-on-year rise in the number of used EVs sold in the UK.
Here’s a look at both the cheapest and best value EVs on the market right now, available on Auto Trader. All prices are correct, at the time of writing.
Renault Zoe – Tesla Model 3 – Vauxhall Corsa-e – MG ZS Electric – Kia e-Niro
Renault Zoe
The used prices of Renault’s electric Zoe hatchback are ever dropping, and you can now pick up low-mileage examples, under ten years old, for around the £5,000 mark.
This example is eight years old, and has just 41,000 miles on the clock, on sale for £5,495. The dealer has also carried out a battery health certificate, showing that it still retains 91% of its original capacity. When it came out of the factory, a drivable range of 149 miles was possible, so you should still be able to get pretty close to that with this healthy battery.
One thing to look out for when buying a used Zoe is the battery leasing, and sellers should let you know whether the battery is fully owned or not. The example above is fully owned. You can find Zoes for as little as £2,000, but these will incur ongoing costs as you do not own the battery – though you can ‘buy the battery out’.
Tesla Model 3
Second-hand Tesla Model 3s have also gotten cheaper this year, with prices dropping below the £15,000 barrier, as we reported back in the summer. This particular example comes in at £14,989, with 62,428 miles on the clock. That mileage shouldn’t be anything to worry about, if Tesla’s recent battery health research is anything to go by.
It’s the ‘Standard Range Plus’ model, which means you get a drivable range of around 254 miles, alongside an impressive 0-60mph time of 5.3 seconds. This example also comes with Tesla’s Autopilot functionality.
Vauxhall/Opel Corsa-e
The fully-electric Vauxhall Corsa is another reasonable option on the used market. This one, from 2021, is on sale for £9,995 with just 21,000 miles – for a car that would’ve cost over £28,000, back when it was new.
In this guise, a range of 209 miles is on offer. Compared to the cheaper Renault Zoe on our list, the Corsa-e is well up to date on the technology front, with standard equipment like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, lane assist. The Corsa-e’s close cousin, the Peugeot E-208, has similar prices on the used market and is an equally sound option. For an affordable, premium electric city car that’ll cost little to run, it doesn’t get much better than this.
MG ZS Electric
For those who need more space, you can even get an electric SUV for the sub-£10k mark. There’s a significant number of fully-electric MG ZSs currently listed on Auto Trader around this price, with this example standing out to us: at £9,990, with 63,000 miles. This particular example has a 44.5kWh battery pack, offering a range of 163 miles.
It’s also loaded with equipment, including a full leather interior, diamond cut alloy wheels, heated seats, and a panoramic sliding sunroof.
Kia e-Niro
The Kia e-Niro offers the best price to range ratio of any used EV on our list, when found with the larger 64kWh battery pack.
This example is priced at £15,490, and like all the cars on this list, has a fairly-low mileage of 38,734 miles. Impressively, this model can offer a drivable range of up to 282 miles. If you’re looking for a high value EV for covering lots of miles, this is a strong choice.
