Used Tesla Model 3s hit the sub-£15k mark in the UK

  • With the prices of used EVs in the UK dropping further, examples of the Tesla Model 3 can now be found for under £15,000, slashing at least 50% off their original purchase prices.
  • A glance at the UK’s leading online car marketplace, Auto Trader, shows six Model 3s available under £15,000, at the time of writing.
  • That number jumps to over 255 available, when filtering for those under £20,000.

Tesla Model 3 becomes an even better used buy

While there’s a growing range of great cheap electric cars, purchasing from the used market is more tempting than ever, thanks to bargains across many EV brands. One of the cheapest examples on Auto Trader comes in at £13,990: A 2020 Standard Range example, with 90,000 miles. This particular model would have cost approximately £40,000 when purchased new, which represents a serious saving for a car which is just four years old. The higher mileage shouldn’t be anything to worry about, either, with Tesla themselves noting minimal battery degradation, even on Tesla EVs with 200,000 miles. Even so, if that mileage does put you off, there are plenty of sub-£20k Model 3s which have covered under 50,000 miles, such as this one.

Many of these Model 3s on Auto Trader are advertised as having just one former keeper, suggesting that these examples are company cars, coming to the end of their lease. With the Model 3 only arriving in the UK in 2019, and being a company car favourite, you can expect even more used examples to flood the market in the coming years. The Porsche Taycan, another popular company lease, has also seen big discounts on the used market due to this.
