Adam Barmby joins HMC Group as Chief Technology Officer

  • EAV founder and CEO, Adam Barmby, is joining Indian mobility group, Hero Motors Company (HMC) Group, as its new Chief Technology Officer.
  • HMC Group already has a large presence across the ebike, automotive, electric, and last mile mobility sector, and Barmby’s appointment comes as the firm plans make a significant expansion into the global micromobility market – a sector expected to be worth over $350 billion by 2030, according to research by McKinsey.
  • As founder of EAV, which produces a range of electric cargo bikes, Barmby’s expertise in the electrification sector, which spans back over two decades, will be put to significant use in his new senior role.

Under his new role, Barmby will lead development on a range of light electric vehicles, designed for use in the urban environment. These products will be tailored for a number of specific markets, including Europe, North America, and Asia. Barmby has already been an advocate for encouraging smaller and cleaner forms of transport in our cities, with EAV previously partnering with significant urban logistics firms, such as Zoomo.

As part of the group’s drive for international expansion, it recently opened a UK-based technology centre. With the micromobility sector’s high expected growth over the next few years, combined with HMC’s existing strong Indian manufacturing base and Barmby’s expertise, this firm will be one to watch in the coming years.
