- Daimler Truck’s supervisory board has appointed Achim Puchert to the Board of Management, where Puchert will also take on the role as CEO for Mercedes-Benz Trucks, covering the regions of Europe and Latin America.
- Puchert will begin the role on the 1st of December next month, taking over from Karin Rådström, who is also currently the CEO of Daimler Truck.
- Puchert comes from his current dual role as both CEO of Mercedes-Benz Brasil, and CEO of Daimler Truck Latin America.
Leadership change at Mercedes-Benz Trucks
Puchert will take the CEO position at Mercedes-Benz Truck over from Karin Rådström, who notably recently became the first female CEO of Daimler Truck. Puchert has worked in the trucking industry for over two decades, having held various management and leadership roles within the Daimler group since joining in 2002.
His appointment comes at a pivotal time for Mercedes-Benz Trucks, with the brand looking towards a more sustainable future. The fully-electric long-range electric truck, the eActros 600, was revealed last year, whilst the wider Daimler Truck group is aiming for all its vehicles sold in Europe, the U.S., and Japan to be zero-emission by 2039 – with that year rising to 2050 for global sales.
Karin Rådström, Chairwoman of Daimler Truck Holding, commented:
“Achim Puchert is an experienced strategist and transformation expert, but even more importantly, Achim is a manager who leads through empowerment, motivating his teams to perform at their best. He has impressively demonstrated his knowledge and skills in his current role as CEO of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil. In less than three years, he has worked with his team to bring a previously challenging business with below-average margins back on track. I look forward to working with Achim in his new responsibility.”
Joe Kaeser, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Daimler Truck, added:
“With the appointment of Achim Puchert, the Supervisory Board promptly decides on the succession for the management of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. Decisive criteria were team spirit, leadership strength and relevant experience in restructuring and profitable development of businesses. Achim Puchert brings together all these attributes in a convincing manner and has demonstrated this particularly in his current role as CEO of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil. The Supervisory Board looks forward to working with him.”
