Volkswagen has opened the order books on its long-anticipated electric Polo across Europe and the UK, becoming the latest EV to go on sale within Volkswagen Group’s ‘Electric Urban’ car lineup – which also includes models like the CUPRA Raval and Skoda Epiq. In Germany, prices have been confirmed to start at €24,995 for the ‘Trend’ specification, while UK buyers can order limited-edition launch versions from the end of July, priced from £25,555 – with the cheaper post-launch specifications arriving at under £25,000 in September.
Volkswagen confirms the ID. Polo will be available for under €25,000 or £25,000
The ID. Polo arrives with a choice of two battery sizes and three power outputs of 116, 135 and 211PS, with a range of up to 281 miles when equipped with the larger 52kWh battery pack. In the UK, order books open on the 30th July, at first limited to two limited-edition launch specifications – the ID. Polo Life Launch Edition and ID. Polo Style Launch Edition, which offer a higher level of equipment with on-the-road prices from £25,555. The more affordable series-production Life and Style models will follow by joining order books from the 10th September, with prices starting from just £23,945.
There is a further incentive for UK buyers with the ID. Polo, with all 52kWh 211PS confirmed to be eligible for the Government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant. The ID. Polo joins a growing list of compact EVs added to the grant scheme in recent weeks, alongside cars such as the Fiat 500e.
UK pricing for the sportier ID. Polo GTI is yet to be confirmed, but in Germany, Volkswagen has confirmed that it’ll start at under €39,000, indicating that it commands a heavy premium over the standard models.
The ID. Polo is now the most affordable Volkswagen-badged EV on sale, and comes as more manufacturers race to bring cheaper electric cars to market. It’ll likely hold that position as Wolfsburg’s cheapest EV until the arrival of the ID. EVERY1 in 2027, which is targeting a sub-€20,000 price tag.
