- Polestar’s in-house public charging service, Polestar Charge, has reached an impressive milestone as it continues to expand the number of public chargers available in Europe under its program.
- Spanning over various CPOs such as Allego, Fastned, and Tesla’s Superchargers, there are now 1 million public chargers accessible through the Polestar Charge network in Europe.
- Bringing multiple charging networks under a simple and single searching and payment method, Polestar believes Polestar Charge is key to further boosting EV adoption amongst the early mainstream.
The Polestar Charge network continues to grow
In the UK alone, the number of public charging points available under the Polestar Charge app stands at 68,000, with 6,500 of those existing as part of Polestar Charge’s subscription offer, which offers a 30% discount on charging prices across UK CPOs including IONITY, InstaVolt, Sainsbury’s, MFG, Applegreen, and Fastned.
To make the public charging process even more seamless, Polestar is also continuing to roll out Plug & Charge capabilities across its range of cars, allowing the car to communicate with the charger to directly carry out payment. This started with the Polestar 3 last year, and will now also be introduced on MY26 Polestar 2s. It remains to be seen whether the technology will be rolled out to existing older Polestar 2 models, with Polestar noting that details on future availability will be ‘shared once available’. This relies on CPOs also enabling the Plug & Charge protocol on their charge points, but the list of those is fast growing, with CPOs such as Allego committing to the technlogy.
Matt Galvin, Managing Director for Polestar UK, commented:
“We continue to expand our public charging network public charging coverage in the UK and across Europe day by day with popular public charging providers. As charging is made seamless via Plug & Charge capability and more cost-efficient with our 30% savings for subscribers, we’re making it even more attractive to own and drive a Polestar.”
