Xiaomi introduces the SU7 EV, with BMW and Mercedes-Benz DNA
Revolutionising the automotive scene, Xiaomi has landed with its groundbreaking EV: the SU7. This new entrant comes in two variants: the SU7 Max, a dual-motor all-wheel-drive car, and the SU7, a sleek single-motor rear-wheel-drive. Unleashing proprietary Modena Architecture, this sedan-style vehicle packs a punch with HyperEngine electric motors spinning at an impressive 21,000 rpm.
When it comes to range, the SU7 Max blows the competition out of the water with a range of up to 497 miles. Its 0-100km/h acceleration clocks in at a mere 2.78 seconds. This impressive performance is made possible by its cutting-edge 101kWh 800V high-voltage platform, outperforming competitors like the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan Turbo.
Beyond its spacious interior, the SU7 captivates with distinctive design elements, featuring “water droplet” headlamps, a 360 LED halo rear brake light, and half-hidden door handles. The cockpit is not just a driving space – it’s an experience. The HyperOS in-car entertainment system, fuelled by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295 processor, takes center stage. It features a cinematic 16.1-inch 3K central screen, complemented by optional Xiaomi Pad tablets and a sound system with 23 internal Dolby Atmos speakers.
When it comes to autonomous driving, the Xiaomi Pilot platform takes the wheel, armed with up to two NVIDIA Drive Orin processors and an array of sensors.
To create the SU7, Xiaomi recruited top talent to craft the SU7, led by Tianyuan Li from BMW’s iX series, James Qiu of Mercedes-Benz’s Vision EQXX design, and design consultant Chris Bangle, a BMW veteran. Together, they’ve sculpted the SU7 into a visionary masterpiece, combining cutting-edge design with automotive expertise.
Xiaomi’s SU7 is a game-changer in the automotive landscape. With a remarkable range and acceleration, combined with its distinctive design and features, the SU7 is not just a car – it’s Xiaomi’s visionary leap into the future of driving.
