The world’s first hyper GT electric car, the Automobili Pininfarina Battista, has made its debut in production form on the roads of California. As part of a packed programme of events around Monterey Car Week, the Battista’s first road outing marks the beginning of a new chapter in the story of Automobili Pininfarina.
The debut of the production-spec Battista offers US clients a chance to experience its 1,900-horsepower performance. Plus, they got to see it with its striking Black Exposed Signature Carbon bodywork, which was crafted at Automobili Pininfarina’s manufacturing facility in Cambiano, Italy.
The exposed bodywork and precision polished Impulso forged aluminium alloy wheels are complemented by an exquisitely tailored interior. This features optional Pilota seats finished in sustainable black leather and quilted Iconica Blu Alcantara upholstery. It’s an extraordinary looking electric vehicle (EV) inside and out.
Paolo Dellachà, Automobili Pininfarina chief product and engineering officer, said “The Battista will provide a thrilling all-round experience on road and track, in the city and on the open road.
“To see the first production-intent example of our pure-electric hyper GT on the highways of California signals the beginning of an exciting new chapter in its development. This is a significant landmark and hugely rewarding moment as we count down towards making the first client deliveries later this year.”
Monterey Car Week also saw the US premiere of the exclusive Battista Anniversario, which is limited to just five vehicles worldwide. It represents the pinnacle of Pininfarina design with aerodynamic enhancements and tailored detailing providing a uniquely dynamic personality.
The Automobili Pininfarina Battista is an impressive work of art featuring outstanding engineering. This pure-electric model will accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100kph) in sub-two seconds which is faster than a current Formula 1 car.
The Automobili Pininfarina Battista joins several new modern zero-emission hypercars that are currently available or in pre-production. These include the Automobili Estrema Fulminea, Lotus Evija, Rimac C_Two and the Hispano Suiza Carmen.
When it comes to speed nothing beats a zero-emissions electric vehicle (EV) and the Battista is a fine example of what can be achieved at the cutting edge. This shows that high-end motoring doesn’t need to destroy the planet.
