American retailer Walmart has reached a major milestone in its EV charging journey, with its owned-and-operated EV charging network now reaching 100 store locations. It’s impressive growth, for a charging network which only opened its first location in April 2025. The 100th site opened at a Walmart store in Monument, Colorado.
Rapid expansion of Walmart’s public charging network continues
The majority of these 100 locations have come online since the start of this year, further highlighting the rapid growth of a charging network that has existed for such a short time. Growth of the network will continue, as Walmart uses its existing properties to build EV chargers in convenient locations where drivers already park to carry out their weekly shop. Longer term, the firm has plans to bring these chargers to ‘thousands’ of Walmart and Sam’s Club locations.
Public chargers from other brands, such as Electrify America, have already operated at Walmart stores before last year’s launch of its own EV charging network. But, the in-house brand brings a recognised and trusted name to the charging space, with a focus on ease of use and rapid speeds. Each location offers 8 to 16 charging bays, with speeds of up to 400kW available, while members of Walmart’s paid loyalty scheme, Walmart+, can benefit from reduced charging prices.
Walmart’s site shows a full list of locations already live, along with an even larger list of locations that are ‘coming soon’ right across the US.
Shayne Wahlmeier, Senior Vice President of Walmart Energy, commented:
“By expanding EV fast charging at Walmart locations across the country, we’re giving drivers a dependable way to charge while they’re in the store. Reaching 100 sites is an important milestone, and our broad footprint positions us to make EV charging more accessible for communities while expanding the ways we serve our customers.”
Adam Happel, General Manager of Walmart Retail EV Charging, added:
“When a customer pulls into a Walmart to charge, we want the experience to feel as reliable and effortless as the rest of their shopping trip. We’re proud to reach 100 sites, but our focus remains on building a network customers can count on every time they charge with us.”
