Volvo Cars adopts NACS and joins the Tesla Supercharger Network in the US and Canada

Volvo Cars is expanding access to electric vehicle (EV) charging for its customers in the US and Canada. Starting in November 2024, Volvo EV owners will be able to use more than 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations across North America.

New 2025 Volvo EV models, including the flagship EX90 SUV, will come with adapters to connect to Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS). Current Volvo EV owners can also get NACS adapters through Volvo dealers, with orders available now.

Drivers can use the Volvo Cars app or their in-car Google Maps system to find Superchargers. The app also gives real-time information on charger availability, helping drivers plan their stops.

Mike Cottone, President of Volvo Car USA and Canada, commented:

“As part of our journey to electrification, we want to make life with an electric car, including our new flagship EX90, as seamless as possible,” said Mike Cottone, President, Volvo Car USA and Canada. “Today we are taking a major step to providing access to easy and convenient charging infrastructure for Volvo drivers in the United States and Canada, furthering our commitment to EV adoption.”

This is a major boost in Volvo’s EV expansion and sustainability goals. The manufacturer joins the likes of Nissan and Hyundai in their adoption of NACS. As a universal service, NACS is propelling the US EV transition with easy charging access.
