Verge Motorcycles breaks range record for electric motorbikes

  • Verge Motorcycle’s fully-electric Verge TS Pro motorbike has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest journey on an electric motorbike on a single charge, after completing 311 kilometres (193 miles) on a single battery charge.
  • The trip lasted over 16 hours, traversing within the M25 around the Greater London area.
  • The impressive range highlights the advancement of the electric motorcycle segment, and proves that such bikes are capable of more than just short trips around town.

A new record for electric motorbike range is set

The riders behind the Guinness World Records achievement included Sara Sloman and Sam Clarke, who took it in turns to complete the 16 hour journey, which brought congestion, various speeds, and stopping-and-starting from traffic lights – not the most ideal conditions for an economical ride, which makes this achievement all that more impressive. Verge Motorcycles themselves claim that the TS Pro should be capable of up to 349 kilometres (217 miles) in an urban environment, which suggests this target could still be beat.

Fleet management specialists Webfleet took charge of tracking and data for the record-breaking run, with The AA on hand in case the bike was to run out of battery during the run. That didn’t turn out to be the case, however, with the bike reportedly still having 7% battery remaining even after completing the record-breaking run.

Chief Marketing Officer for Verge Motorcycles, Lauri Laukkanen, commented:

“This world record is an amazingly proud moment for the entire Verge team. We have been developing the efficiency, driveability, and features of our motorbikes for years, and we wanted to show the world that anything is possible. This record is a concrete demonstration of what our unique technology and proprietary architecture are actually capable of. For us, this is first and foremost a symbol of setting bold goals, reinforcing trust, and being able to show the reliability and performance capabilities of our solutions in a concrete way. It is good to shift into even higher gear from here and head towards new opportunities for putting our bikes to the test.”
