- Vauxhall has given the Mokka Electric a mid life update, with several visual changes inside and out, alongside technological changes.
- The most significant changes, however, are the price cuts, with savings of up to £4,640, depending on the specification chosen.
- This EV now also comes as standard with the larger 54kWh battery pack, offering a quoted range between charges of 230 miles.
Vauxhall narrows the price gap between ICE and EV
The changes to pricing mean the Mokka Electric now starts from £33,245, with the longer range 54kWh battery now becoming the default option, unlike the previous entry model’s 50kWh unit.
That’s still more expensive than the cheapest ICE-powered Mokka, which starts at £24,705, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction. Earlier on this year, Vauxhall demonstrated this ever-closing price gap between ICE and electric cars with the Vauxhall Frontera debut, which achieved price parity with both the fully-electric and petrol-hybrid models being offered at the same £23,495 starting price.
New owners will also have three promotional offers available to sweeten the deal: Either, a £500 contribution towards an Ohme home charger, £500 worth of charging at Tesco supermarkets, or a £500 credit for the Octopus Electroverse roaming service.
With the recent addition of EVs such as the Frontera and Grandland, Vauxhall now offer a fully-electric option of every passenger car in its portfolio – much like sibling Stellantis company, Peugeot. As we’ve seen in recent UK sales figures, the manufacturers who offer a diverse range of BEVs, at a wider range of price points are gaining the largest market shares in the UK BEV market.
James Taylor, Vauxhall’s Managing Director, commented:
“Our new Vauxhall Mokka is bold, pure, and unmistakable. A car full of character that stands out in the crowd. Its current popularity alongside Corsa Electric means Vauxhall is the leading brand for electric sales in the combined B-segment. We are committed to making electric mobility accessible to everyone, with a fully electric version of each model in our line-up set to be available by the end of the year.”
