Steve Catlin takes over as Vauxhall continues its mass electrification goals
After holding several managerial and leadership positions across a span of OEMs which also includes General Motors, Saab, and most recently being the Managing Director of Volvo Car Financial Services UK, Catlin’s appointment comes at a landmark time for Vauxhall. Its entire range of vehicles – both on the passenger and commercial side – are now all being offered with the option of a fully-electric powertrain. With the Vauxhall brand being exclusive to the United Kingdom, a country with an increasingly close ZEV mandate, it’s poised to become one of the first major automotive brands to go fully-electric on the passenger car side.
Across 2024, Vauxhall sold over 15,000 fully-electric vehicles, and has been a champion for EVs within the UK through aspects such as its Electric Streets campaign. With Catlin now on board as its new Managing Director, as well as overseeing the Vauxhall brand, he’ll also be looking to boost those EV sales figures even further.
Steve Catlin, Managing Director, Vauxhall, commented on his appointment:
“It’s great to be back working with Vauxhall, which has always been a brand close to my heart. A lot has changed since I was last here and not just the décor, but the motor industry as a whole.
However, Vauxhall has always stood for practical innovation with a distinctly British voice. Now, with a fully electric line-up and a clear sense of purpose, it’s a brilliant time to be part of the journey. I’m looking forward to building on the progress we’ve made and the exciting road ahead.”
Eurig Druce, Group Managing Director of Stellantis UK, added:
“Steve brings deep experience across the industry and a strong understanding of Vauxhall’s role in shaping the future of British mobility. Vauxhall, a home brand for Stellantis UK must return to growth and I am confident Steve will lead the teams in a positive trajectory.”
