  • US pricing has been revealed for the upcoming third-generation Nissan Leaf, the latest global EV set to be sold by Nissan.

New Nissan Leaf to be cheapest EV sold in the US

This price will already make the Leaf the cheapest EV on sale in the US, but the base price of the model is set to drop further, as pricing for the entry-level Leaf ‘S’ is yet to be confirmed, which should be priced at even less than $29,990.

The pricing also highlights the increasing economies of scale surrounding EVs. Defying inflation, the upcoming Leaf’s $29,990 price is still lower than the original 2011 Leaf, which had a base price of $32,780 some 15 years ago.

Unlike the previous Nissan Leaf which was manufactured for the North American market at Nissan’s Smyrna plant in Tennessee, US and Canada-bound third-generation Leafs will be exported from Nissan’s production facility in Tochigi, Japan. Despite the 15% automotive import tariff this will incur in the US, the new Leaf still looks to be priced extremely competitively for the US market.
