- Volvo, who are the official electric car partner for The Eden Project, and the presenting partner of Eden Sessions, have supplied a new fleet of EVs to the UK’s leading ecological attraction.
- Comprising nine new electric Volvo XC40s, the fleet will be used as transport for both staff and visitors across the project, as well as for work-related journeys that go beyond the site.
- The collaboration is hoped to bring more consumer awareness to EVs, and help tackle the barriers and perceived issues of electric car ownership.
The Eden Project and Volvo’s collaboration continues
This is not the first time The Eden Project has run a fleet of Volvo EVs, which have been running around the site since 2021, but the site has decided to switch these out for some newer XC40 Recharge models. While this working number doesn’t include Volvo’s new EX30 electric SUV, one EX30 will be parked up outside The Eden Project domes, in a planted driveway to encourage and give tips on how visitors can increase the biodiversity of their own driveway. Meanwhile, another XC40 Recharge will be placed near the entrance to the site, which will showcase the benefits of electric vehicles. The partnership underlines Volvo’s strong sustainability focus, aiming to become a fully electric car manufacturer by 2030. The two have plans to work together on more joint activities in the future, to help educate the public about electric vehicles.
Nicole Melillo Shaw, Volvo Car UK’s Managing Director, commented:
“We are delighted to continue to support the Eden Project with its vital work in educating and inspiring people to protect the planet and create a safer future for everyone… At Volvo Cars, we have some of the most ambitious sustainability targets in the industry, so the Eden Project is the ideal partner for us to work with to share our values and vision and continue to be a catalyst for change.”
