Fisker’s Ocean SUV electric vehicle (EV) receives European certification, with deliveries set to begin on May 5th.
All Ocean One orders are expected to be fulfilled by September in North America and Europe, with the Fisker Ocean Extreme set to follow.
The company has also produced several Fisker Ocean Ultra and Sport trims for testing and certification purposes, with customer deliveries of these models anticipated to begin in September 2023.
The Fisker Ocean has obtained a WLTP certification of up to 707 km/440 UK miles, the longest of any battery-electric SUV currently available in Europe.
“The entire Fisker team is excited to get the Fisker Ocean One launch edition to our reservation holders. Our first delivery is expected for May 5. After that, we intend to deliver all Ocean Ones by the end of September while also initiating some deliveries of the Fisker Ocean Extreme, starting in Europe with the U.S. to follow.”
Henrik Fisker, Chairman & CEO, Fisker Inc.
Despite not being delivered to customers just yet, Fisker’s electric SUV has already won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for Best Electric Vehicle for 2023. The award is given based on four design qualities: product function, aesthetics, ease of use, and responsibility/sustainability.
The EV’s critical success is largely due to the Ocean’s ingenious production. The vehicle contains 110 pounds (roughly 50kg) of biodegradable and recyclable materials and is assembled at a carbon-neutral factory in Graz, Austria. The Ocean’s cutting-edge SolarSky roof could provide up to 1500 miles of range per year, making this vehicle a true sustainability innovator.
With the Fisker Ocean and the BYD Dolphin and Seal all coming to Europe, there is a definite maritime theme to EV naming. Perhaps the accelerating success of these pioneering brands can act as a guiding light by which others can plot their voyage through the uncharted waters of emobility.
