- Stellantis brand, Jeep, unveiled its first fully electric vehicle on Thursday, the Wagoneer S.
- Whilst we’re still waiting for a fully-electric take on the popular boxy Wrangler model, this mid-size electric SUV looks to be an equally attractive package.
- Packing a 600hp electric motor with a 0-60mph time of 3.4 seconds, the Wagoneer S truly puts the ‘Sport’ in Sports Utility Vehicle.
The first fully-electric model from the Jeep brand
As part of the Stellantis group, Jeep is using the EV-native STLA platform, set to be used across all future EVs produced under the various Stellantis brands. In this case, a four-wheel-drive setup combined with an electric motor producing 600hp will rocket the Wagoneer S on to 60 mph in under four seconds. That’s the same territory of the best electric sports cars, but it looks like the Wagoneer S will be just as capable off the beaten track, as Jeep is equipping the model with five different terrain modes for grip in all conditions.
Drivable range is competitive against other electric SUVs too, with a range of over 300 miles possible on its 100kWh battery pack, which is also capable of charging from 20 to 80% in 23 minutes on a DC fast charger. The interior is also a tech-fest, with a combined screen space of 45 inches, including a separate 10-inch screen for the front passenger, and a 19-speaker sound system tuned by McIntosh with a combined power of 1,160 watts.
The Wagoneer S is first hitting the US and Canada markets in the second half of 2024, with a starting price of $71,995 (£56,600 / €66,500). However, Jeep notes that markets ‘around the world’ will also be able to get their hands on a Wagoneer S at a later date. It’s not the first firm to bring typically American cars to other territories in the EV era, with Cadillac recently announcing its plans to re-enter Europe with a set of electric SUVs.
