The UK’s charging sector is strengthening as four new members join ChargeUK
ChargeUK, the UK’s leading EV charging industry group, has added four new members. Blink Charging joins as a Full Member, while Gireve, Octopus Energy’s Electroverse, and Virta become Industry Associate Members.
The EV charging industry is growing fast, and collaboration is the key to its success. ChargeUK members have pledged to invest over £6 billion by 2030. They aim to build world-class charging infrastructure, create jobs, and drive economic growth. It’s vital work to support the UK’s EV transition.
Vicky Read, CEO of ChargeUK, praised the sector’s progress:
“The UK’s charging sector has grown rapidly in the last decade and today it plays a major role in the UK’s green economy. ChargeUK is mirroring that growth, demonstrating the industry’s desire to come together to accelerate the rollout.
We look forward to having the expertise and experience of Blink Charging, Gireve, Octopus Electroverse and Virta in our organisation.
These new members will help ChargeUK to continue the rollout at a record pace, ensuring deployment ramps up in locations that have been hampered by delays, and making sure the UK has a thriving EV market, so that investment in infrastructure continues at scale.”
Each new member brings unique strengths. Blink Charging focuses on innovative and reliable charging solutions. Gireve champions interoperability, helping different systems work seamlessly together. Octopus Electroverse offers the largest consumer charging platform in the UK. Virta, a leader in charging management systems, enhances user experiences.
Charging anxiety is still a major barrier to adoption. Drivers are put off of making the switch by a lack of confidence in the charging network’s availability and reliability. By combining forces under the ChargeUK banner, each member becomes stronger through united support.
Alex Calnan, Managing Director of Blink Charging UK & Ireland commented:
“Blink Charging is proud to be a member of ChargeUK, uniting with other industry leaders to proactively accelerate the growth of the EV charging infrastructure for drivers across the UK.
As a charge point operator, this collaboration further strengthens our commitment to delivering reliable, accessible, and innovative charging solutions, supporting the nation’s transition to a cleaner, greener future.”
With record numbers of EV chargers being installed, ChargeUK’s efforts ensure the UK is ready for a surge in EVs. This is especially prevalent with the ongoing discussions surrounding the country’s ZEV Mandate. With charging companies across the UK working towards a united vision, we can eliminate charging anxiety and move forward with an equitable transition.
