Utilising SSE’s green energy assets to support businesses on the road to net zero,
SSE Energy Solutions has launched SSE Green EV, a new electric vehicle tariff in the UK. It supports businesses running or those thinking of switching to electric vehicles (EVs) to cut costs and carbon emissions.
The SSE Green EV tariff allows customers to power their company vehicles and fleets with 100 percent renewable electricity generated by SSE’s own hydro and wind generation assets. The tariff also incentivises businesses to reduce costs by charging their electric vehicles at reduced rates during off-peak hours.
With the UK government banning sales of all new diesel and petrol cars and vans from 2030, the electric vehicle revolution has already begun and electric vehicle sales are set to soar.
Owners of EV fleets, bus and freight companies and organisations running or switching to electric vehicles are among the businesses that could benefit from the green EV tariff and SSE’s zero emissions electricity.
Nikki Flanders, SSE Energy customer solutions managing director, said: “We are delighted to launch the SSE Green EV tariff, enhancing our suite of offerings that are enabling our customers to cut their energy costs and access 100 percent certified renewable electricity.
“At SSE we are doing everything we can to support our customers in the transition to green energy and to provide the flexible infrastructure they need to grow while working towards a net zero future.
“One obvious way for companies to move the dial on their net zero ambitions is to switch to electric vehicles. Businesses account for over half of all registered vehicles in the UK. Encouraging these businesses to make the move to electric vehicles would go a long way to helping the UK meet its net zero ambitions.”
