CUPRA is taking the next step in its electrification strategy and launching its first all-electric car the CUPRA Born. The zero-emissions hatchback is based on Volkswagen’s MEB electric car platform and the sporty-looking electric vehicle (EV) is said to offer a fun and agile drive.
The CUPRA born will be available in four different variants in the UK, with three different battery sizes. The base model will feature a 110kW motor driven by a 45kWh battery. This offers a range of up to 211 miles (340km) and can accelerate from 0-62mph (100kph) in 8.9 seconds.
Then there will be two models that feature a 58kWh battery. The first will feature a 150kW motor that offers up to 260 miles (418km) and can accelerate from 0-62mph (100kph) in 7.3 seconds. The second 58kWh battery model features a 170kW motor along with CUPRA’s E-Boost, which delivers the same range, but picks up the pace hitting 0-62mph (100kph) in 6.6 seconds.
The Spanish brand’s flagship zero-emissions model will be offered with a 170kW motor that’s driven by 77kWh battery. This offers an impressive 335 miles (539km) of range and hits 0-62mph (100kph) in seven seconds.

“But it’s more than that. Through its emotional sportiness, we want the next generation of young challengers to be part of this transformation. That’s why CUPRA will use unconventional sales models to reach new people and take the CUPRA brand beyond the traditional.”
UK pricing for CUPRA Born will be announced in the fourth quarter of 2021 with deliveries starting at the beginning of 2022.
