- Chinese EV manufacturer, Skywell, has revealed its first passenger car to be debuted across Europe, in the form of the Skywell Q.
- On display at this week’s Paris Motor Show, the all-electric Q will join an ever-more crowded electric hatchback market, competing with the likes of the Volkswagen ID.3, BYD Dolphin, and MG4.
- The new EV will hit European markets in the third quarter of 2025.
The latest electric hatchback on the scene
The Skywell Q will be offered in two battery sizes – with both yet defined, but the manufacturer noting that the larger capacity option will be capable of driving over 300 miles between chargers. This will also offer a recharge time from 10-80% in 20 minutes, on a suitable rapid charger. From a 201 horsepower electric motor, Skywell is also claiming a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds, which would significantly beat all its rivals – even performance-oriented options like the Cupra Born. It remains to be seen how the Q will achieve this, considering that EVs with similar power levels have not seen acceleration times this low.

Standard equipment is extensive, too, including features such as a panoramic glass roof, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, and an eight-speaker sound system tuned by German audio specialists, Metz. A home-style plug socket also comes standard, allowing larger devices such as a laptop to be charged inside the car.

There’s no word on specific pricing yet, but Skywell have noted that the Skywell Q will be ‘competitively priced’ – which should entail a price at or below that of its key rivals. For the UK, it’s the second Skywell passenger EV to arrive in the country, after the larger Skywell BE11 electric SUV goes on sale in the country this year. That aforementioned EV is priced from £36,995, giving you an idea of how much lower the Skywell Q could be priced from. For reference, arguably the best-value electric hatch on offer right now is the MG4, starting at £26,995.
