Skoda reaches milestone of 1 million EV battery systems built for Volkswagen Group

  • Skoda Auto has reached a significant milestone in its EV journey, after producing the one millionth battery system at its Mladá Boleslav plant in Czechia.
  • The plant, which initially began battery systems for plug-in hybrid vehicles within the Volkswagen Group back in 2019, now produces EV batteries for Volkswagen Group’s fully-electric MEB platform.
  • These battery systems make their way into not only Skodas, but other Volkswagen Group-owned brands like Volkswagen, SEAT, CUPRA, and Audi.

Skoda Auto passes one million EV battery systems built

The Mladá Boleslav plant’s daily production capacity currently stands at 1,500 battery units, providing significant capacity for the wider Volkswagen Group to push on its EV aims. It also provides the battery systems for all current Skoda BEVs, consisting currently of the Skoda Enyaq and Skoda Elroq. Other battery systems produced at the site range in capacity from 55 to 91kWh.

The milestone has also coincided with the launch of Volkswagen Group’s ‘Enter Electric‘ campaign, a cross-brand effort between all its owned brands to encourage EV adoption through facts and positive messaging.
