Celebrating 200,000 Enyaq units, Škoda prepares to expand its emobility line-up
The Enyaq series, introduced as part of Škoda’s entry into EVs, has become a symbol of the brand’s electric endeavours. Its features include enhanced drivetrains, faster charging capabilities, and an extended operational range. These have made the Enyaq series a formidable player in the market.
The Enyaq series is built on the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Electrification Toolkit (MEB). It represents a substantial investment of €32 million to adapt the main plant in Mladá Boleslav. This strategic move allows the simultaneous production of MEB and combustion engine-based models. In 2023, the Enyaq captured a quarter of the EV market share in Czechia. It’s been so successful that it emerged as the most favoured electric series in the region.
Andreas Dick, Škoda Auto Board Member for Production and Logistics, celebrated the achievement:
“The Enyaq has led the charge in our emobility campaign; the model family’s success is proof that we are on the right track with our strategy. Last year, it was the fourth best-selling electric vehicle series in Europe, achieving a record-breaking global sales figure of 81,700 units – an increase of 52.1% over 2022. This achievement underscores our commitment to expanding our electric vehicle range to a total of six new models in the coming years. Our ambitious targets are within reach, thanks to the expertise of our team and our Simply Clever ethos, ensuring a smooth transition into the new era of emobility.”
2024 brings further enhancements to the Enyaq lineup, with models like the Enyaq 85, 85x, and RS featuring more potent electric motors and an upgraded software version. These improvements contribute to a maximum range exceeding 560 kilometres for the SUV variant. That hikes up to over 570 kilometres for the Coupé model. Both models boast significantly reduced charging times, enabling a 10 to 80% charge in under 30 minutes.
As Škoda Auto looks ahead, this milestone sets the stage for the upcoming all-electric Elroq. That release marks the beginning of a campaign to introduce six new electric models, solidifying Škoda’s position in the fully electric vehicle market.
