Siemens launches SICHARGE FLEX – The next-gen EV charging system built for the megawatt era

  • Siemens has launched SICHARGE FLEX, a new EV charging system, which Siemens says, is designed to deliver massive power, high efficiency, and flexible installation options.
  • The global charging tech business says the new systems is built with modularity and scalability in mind.
  • SICHARGE FLEX is aimed at meeting the fast-growing demand for both fleet and en-route charging, from passenger cars to heavy-duty trucks and buses.

Big power, flexible setup

At the heart of SICHARGE FLEX is a dynamic power distribution system that intelligently routes electricity to where it’s needed in real time. The system can deliver anywhere from 480 kW up to 1.68 MW DC, with charging current reaching 1,500 amps. That’s enough to charge even the biggest electric trucks and buses quickly and efficiently.

Because the power is fully dynamic, operators can allocate energy across multiple charge points in increments of 80 or 120 kW. The system also supports both CCS and MCS standards, with up to four MCS charge points, all on a single setup.

Another key advantage: its compact footprint. With an industry-leading power density of up to 656 kW/m², and cooling that allows for wall placement. As such, SICHARGE FLEX is particularly well-suited for space-constrained sites. Dispensers can be installed as far as 300 meters from the central cabinet, and come in different formats such as floor, wall, or even overhead-mounted to fit a variety of locations.

Customer-first features
Ease of use was a major focus in development. The system integrates seamlessly with Siemens’ Sifinity Control platform, giving operators cloud-based monitoring, remote control, and full visibility of their charging network. For fleet operators, pairing with DepotFinity provides smart energy management, making it easier to optimize charging even when grid capacity is limited, thus helping to lower costs and reduce the need for major infrastructure upgrades.

First customer: OMV in Austria
Even before the official launch, SICHARGE FLEX attracted strong interest. OMV, a major charge point operator and mobility provider in Central Europe, has already ordered the first system. Their site in Kufstein, Austria, a key location on the A12 corridor between Germany and Italy, will initially feature six charging points for passenger cars, eTrucks, and eBuses, with plans to expand to ten after local grid upgrades.

Looking ahead
SICHARGE FLEX officially debuted at Busworld 2025 in Brussels, and will be commercially available by 2026. Siemens sees it as a cornerstone of its eMobility strategy: providing high-performance, future-ready charging solutions that help operators scale confidently, maximise energy use, and support the broader shift to sustainable transport.
