Siemens drives Italy’s emobility transition with a bus network and logistics overhaul

  • Siemens eMobility is driving Italy’s transition to sustainable transport by electrifying buses and logistics networks.
  • In Tuscany, 73 zero-emission bus chargers are being installed, while 120 logistics sites gain high-power chargers.
  • These projects integrate renewable energy and advanced technology, showcasing Siemens’ commitment to sustainable mobility and innovation.

Siemens brings cutting-edge technology to Italy’s transportation revolution with bus and logistics electrification

Siemens eMobility is playing a crucial role in Italy’s push for sustainable transportation. The company has partnered with Autolinee Toscane and IPLANET on two major electrification projects. These initiatives aim to revolutionise public transportation and modernise service areas across the country.

In Tuscany, Siemens is helping Autolinee Toscane roll out a zero-emission bus fleet. The project involves installing 73 charging points at depots in Florence, Prato, and Lucca. Each charging point delivers 100-150 kW of power. Siemens also provides advanced software, DepotFinity, to monitor and manage charging. This ensures smooth operations and efficient energy use.

Meanwhile, IPLANET is transforming over 120 logistics sites with Siemens technology. These sites will feature hundreds of 300-400 kW chargers and renewable energy solutions. The chargers include app-based activation, interactive screens, and support for heavy-duty vehicles. Some locations also have battery storage systems and solar panels.

Markus Mildner, CEO of Siemens eMobility, commented:

“Projects like these underscore Siemens eMobility’s mission to integrate sustainable mobility into everyday life. By combining cutting-edge technology and strong partnerships, we’re helping to transform the transportation and logistics sectors for a more sustainable future.”

These projects mark another step toward Italy’s transition to emobility. They show how innovation and partnerships can drive change in a crucial year for the EV sector. Especially as Europe’s adoption rates plateau thanks to the reduction of incentives across the board. Continuing the infrastructure and public transport revolution is driving the world to positive change.
