Shell has expanded to over 100,000 charge points across its extended network
Shell now boasts over 100,000 DC fast chargers across its network. That includes its extensive third-party network. Recently, it’s been focused on rolling out ultra-rapid models. These 150kW and 175kW chargers can recharge an EV from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes—up to three times quicker than traditional 50kW chargers.
This extensive network is part of a larger infrastructure of 750,000 charge points available through Recharge and partner networks. To streamline the charging process, they also offer the Shell Recharge App.
Shell is embracing the future of re-fuelling through extensive rollouts. Their services include home, workplace, and on-the-go charging. Successful partnerships with major players such as Volkswagen Group and BYD have boosted the network massively. Furthermore, Shell’s affiliates such as Ubitricity have been expanding on-street charging access for some years now.
The new world of transport is here, and the old industry linchpins like Shell are in a unique position to pivot their priorities and aid the rollout. Now, with over 100,000 charge points in its extended network, Shell has most assuredly thrown its hat in the ring.
