Rivian R2 set for June 9th launch, with first customer deliveries and demo drives beginning

Rivian R2 orders to open from June 9 in North America, marking the arrival of the brand's most affordable EV.

Rivian has confirmed that the market launch of its long-awaited R2 model will take place next month, with the first customer deliveries, demo drives, and order invitations set to begin on Tuesday June 9th, in America.

Order invitations will begin arriving in reservation holders inboxes from this date, and once an order is confirmed, customers can expect their R2 to be delivered in a 2-6 week delivery window.

The Rivian R2 will become the most affordable model in the manufacturer’s passenger EV lineup, significantly undercutting the Rivian R1S and R1T models and making Rivian EV ownership accessible to an even wider audience. However, on the June 9th launch, just one trim level will be available – the R2 Performance, starting at $57,990. Those who buy this model now will also benefit from the ‘Launch Package’ free of charge for a limited time, which includes Rivian’s Autonomy+ software, a limited edition colour option, a towing package, and a limited design key fob.

That will be joined by the R2 Premium later in the year, at a price of $53,990. The most affordable Rivian R2, which is rumoured to start at $45,000 and be price competitive against EVs such as the Tesla Model Y, won’t be arriving until late 2027. While only available in North America from next month, Rivian still intends to bring the R2 to Europe, but the timeline for its arrival is uncertain.

June 9th also marks the date that demo drives will open for the Rivian R2, with the vehicle appearing at Rivian spaces across North America.
