Sweden is set for expanded truck charging thanks to Ragn-Sells and ABB E-mobility partnership

Ragn-Sells, a leader in waste management, is accelerating the electrification of heavy transport in Sweden. Partnering with ABB E-mobility, the company is rolling out public charging stations equipped with high-power chargers.

The initiative is part of Sweden’s ‘regional electrification pilot’ program, backed by the Swedish Energy Agency. The program is investing up to 350 million SEK in charging infrastructure projects in response to the nation’s growing EV fleet.

Ragn-Sells is deploying 18 ABB Terra High-Power chargers. These units can charge more than 120 heavy-duty trucks per day. The chargers will power Ragn-Sells’ electric fleet, while remaining accessible to other heavy-duty trucking companies.

The rollout is already underway. Ten chargers are operational—four in Gothenburg’s Marieholm area and six in Skepplanda, Ale. An additional eight will go live at a site in Högbytorp soon.

This partnership is about ensuring long-term profitability and sustainability. As Sweden continues its transition to electric transport, projects like this are critical in building the necessary infrastructure to support the country’s climate goals.
