- As part of an ongoing partnership between Porsche Cars North America, and American CPO, Electrify America, buyers of the new Macan Electric will benefit from one years worth of free public charging.
- The offer will allow complementary 30 minute charging sessions, at the 950-plus locations Electrify America operates in the country.
- With the Macan’s fast-charge capable 800-volt architecture, and Electrify America’s portfolio of ultra-rapid chargers, the partnership hopes to promote both of these strengths.
Porsche Macan Electric now a more attractive option for American buyers
With Electrify America offering DC fast chargers across the states, with charging speeds of up to 350kW, its service will perfectly complement the Macan’s ability to support charging speeds of up to 270kW. That means, that whilst the offer of 30 minutes free charging doesn’t sound like that much time on paper, at full charging speed, the Macan will be able to go from a 10-80% state of charge in 21 minutes.
This offer will undoubtedly make the Macan Electric a more popular electric SUV in the states, but it’s not the only EV being offered complementary charging through Electrify America’s network, with the CPO partnering with a number of EV manufacturers. New Hyundai IONIQ 5s, for example, come with 24 months of free DC fast charging, up to a maximum of 30 minutes – double the length of that offered with the Macan EV. Meanwhile, the Audi Q4 e-tron, for instance, comes with 250kW worth of free charging on the network.
