Polestar, the Swedish premium electric vehicle (EV) car brand, has announced its Polestar 2 BST edition 270. It is a limited edition, performance-oriented version of the Polestar 2. Only 270 will be made for Europe and North America.
The BST edition 270 builds on the two electric motor 78kWh version of the Polestar 2 Long range Dual motor model with the Performance pack and Polestar’s performance software upgrade.
It has an impressive power output of 350kW (476hp) and 680Nm of torque, along with heightened responsiveness and sportier dynamics. Polestar hasn’t revealed its top-end speed or 0-62mph (0-100kph) acceleration as yet. From these power output figures it’s going to be impressive and one that will turn the head of even the biggest petrolhead.
Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, said: “This is a fun and exciting moment for Polestar. We were really encouraged by the enthusiastic reception we received for the Experimental car.
“I have enjoyed driving my own modified Polestar 2 in the last year, which inspired our Goodwood concept in the first place. It was clear we needed to put a special, more performance-oriented Polestar 2 into production.”
Other modifications and additions include a 25mm lower stance, unique Öhlins three-way adjustable dampers with auxiliary adjustment chambers, 20 percent stiffer springs and unique new matte black 21-inch alloy wheels.
The wheels were inspired by those sported by its electric hybrid relative, the Polestar 1, which has entered its final round of production. It runs on 245/35R21 Pirelli P Zero tyres developed specifically for this car. It uses the same standard 4-piston Brembo brakes found on the Polestar 2.
The exterior also sports some modifications which are designed to emphasise the car’s performance-oriented nature.
It will be available in either Thunder or Snow, with colour-matched bumpers and side skirts. The BST edition 270 will also be adorned with a custom livery consisting of a full-length body stripe in a contrasting finish.
To complement this the side mirrors are finished in gloss black. The signature “Swedish gold” details featured in the existing Performance pack remain, including on the brake callipers, damper elements, valve caps and seatbelts.
This limited edition electric vehicle (EV) will be built at Polestar’s state of the art Chengdu factory in China. This factory is no stranger to producing low volume cars as the builder of the Polestar 1.
Polestar are constantly developing and evolving its zero-emission electric vehicles with several new models on the way. These include the Polestar 3 electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) and the Polestar 5, which evolved from the Polestar Precept. Earlier this year, Polestar also revealed its slick-looking convertible concept car, the Polestar O₂.
