Polestar reveals limited edition electric bike in collaboration with CAKE

Electric carmaker, Polestar, and CAKE, who are an electric bike company producing sustainable performance products, have revealed their first collaboration. Together they have produced a special version of the new CAKE Makka compact electric bike. The Makka – Polestar edition by CAKE is making its debut at the 2021 IAA in Munich.

Based on CAKE’s newest bike platform, the Makka – Polestar edition has unique design, component features and upgrades that further align the brands’ shared desire to accelerate the shift towards sustainable mobility.

The lightweight electric bike is specifically designed to be even more versatile when used in combination with Polestar 2. A rear tow bar mount allows the bike to be transported and charged directly from the car while on the move. Once parked, the bike can be used as a last-mile commuter, general urban transport solution or even for off-road adventures.

Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, said: “Makka – Polestar edition by CAKE is the next step in our brand collaboration and it gives us a chance to tackle broader mobility challenges.

“The lightweight bike connects with Polestar 2 via a cord that allows it to charge from our car, ready to tackle inner cities as well as explore the countryside. Together with brands like CAKE, we are build momentum towards a more sustainable future.”

The Makka – Polestar edition by CAKE is a bespoke version of the new bike with numerous styling and changes including a slim LED headlight, Öhlins rear damper, black detailing and a frame and battery cover in Polestar Snow matte. Fully electric powertrains by CAKE and minimalistic design features by Polestar link the brands and vehicles even further.

Stefan Ytterborn, CAKE CEO and founder, said: “Instead of wasting time in a traffic jam, finding a parking spot or squashing up in a crowded train, together with the team at Polestar we want to make the future of mobility flexible, accessible and emission-free – while aiming to create cities for people, not for cars that pollute,”

This is a great idea that delivers the perfect zero-emission combination when it comes to clean transport into urban areas. We love that the Makka – Polestar can be charged by the car while driving.

The bike will be a flagship product in the new Polestar Additionals web shop, which launches at the same time to a wider audience following an initial exclusive pre-launch for the Polestar community earlier in the summer. The web shop will feauture lifestyle products like t-shirts, hoodies, bags and water bottles, as well as the Makka – Polestar edition by CAKE.
