- In collaboration with Plugsurfing, Polestar is launching a new charging service for Europe.
- The service, called Polestar Charge, will make use of existing Tesla, IONITY, Recharge, Total, Fastned and Allego chargers to reach the sizable number.
- This also makes the manufacturer the first in Europe to integrate the Tesla Supercharger network into its own service.
Multiple charging networks under one service
The new Polestar Charge network will be available exclusively to Polestar drivers at no extra cost, granting them access to over 650,000 EV chargers. Drivers who are racking up the miles have the option to pay a £11.99 per month subscription fee, granting a 30% discount rate on approximately 28,000 chargers. The service will integrate directly with the car, removing the need for drivers to carry multiple charging apps on their phone. The network is a similar size to Volkswagen’s We Charge offering, with access to over 600,000 European chargers, and comes in good timing, ahead of the launch of Polestar’s 3 and 4 models.
This also marks Polestar’s global move to make its cars compatible with Tesla Superchargers. North American-bound models will soon have NACS compatibility, whilst in China, drivers now have access to Tesla’s chargers across 200 cities.
Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, commented:
“We know an important part of owning an electric car is being able to charge conveniently. With access to the largest networks in Europe and smart integration in Google Maps, we have made it easy for Polestar drivers to enjoy life with an electric car rather than worrying about where they will find their next charge”.
