European electric vehicle (EV) drivers will benefit from this Polestar and Zaptec charging solutions collaboration
Under the agreement, Zaptec’s Zaptec Go charging unit will become the recommended home charger for Polestar customers. This means that Zaptec Go will have a presence in Polestar’s online store and physical showrooms.
Lutz Stiegler, Polestar CTO says:
“The partnership with Zaptec marks an important step in providing our European customers with seamless and effective home charging solutions ahead of the first deliveries of the two electric performance SUVs Polestar 3 and Polestar 4. Together with Zaptec we will also continue developments on innovative charging tech to deliver features like smart charging, bidirectional charging and vehicle-to-grid to our customers in the future.”
The partnership is looking into the future.
The companies plan to work together on developing innovative charging technologies for future Polestar models. Alongside advanced smart charging, the partnership will explore bidirectional charging. This V2G tech has become a buzzword of the moment as it allows EVs to both receive power from the grid and feed it back. This should help to stabilise the electricity grid as EVs become even more commonplace.
Kurt Østrem, CEO of Zaptec commented:
“We’re genuinely proud of this collaboration. Given Zaptec’s high regard for quality and safety, it’s only fitting to partner with those who share and understand our values. Entering into this partnership, we’re embarking on an incredibly exciting journey in Europe, particularly with our vehicle-to-grid technology.

The Zaptec Go chargers will be rolled out to Polestar customers in select European markets in a phased approach. Initially, availability will be limited, but both companies plan to expand the program to additional markets.
Polestar are innovating EVs from the ground up. The ongoing Polestar 0 project is barreling towards environmental breakthroughs. Meanwhile, fast-charging and next-gen models have taken priority. We’re very excited to see what grid-saving technologies this partnership can create.
