Polestar, the Swedish electric performance car manufacturer, has seen an overwhelming response in build slot reservations for its Polestar 6 LA Concept. Last month we brought news about the Polestar 6 performance electric convertible and now all 500 build slots for the Polestar 6 LA Concept version have been reserved online within a week of the production announcement.
Expected to launch in 2026, the Polestar 6 LA Concept edition is an exclusive initial version of Polestar 6. This model will be available in the unique Sky blue exterior and feature many other key elements of the Polestar O₂ concept car announced in March. Polestar O₂ then went on to become the Polestar 6 Concept.
With such a quick sellout, it shows that high-performing electric cars are now important in this space and changing the opinion of even the biggest petrolheads. Hopefully, the impressive torque, fast acceleration and high top speed of these electric vehicles (EVs), combined with zero emissions, will continue to change people’s minds as to what a performance car needs to be powered by.
Responding to the strong demand for the Polestar 6 LA Concept, the company plans to open reservations on build slots for regular versions of Polestar 6 later in 2022. This will be produced after the initial 500 LA Concept edition cars have been built.
Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, said: “The high interest from our customers shows that a stunning electric roadster like Polestar 6 has high relevance in the sportscar arena. The open-top-plus-electric combination is clearly one that appeals to even the most die-hard petrolheads.”
With Polestar 6 now included in its portfolio, Polestar plans to launch four new electric vehicles within five years. This begins with the debut of the company’s first electric performance sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Polestar 3, in October 2022.
