Pod rebrand signals shift to full-service EV charging with new subscription
One of the original CPOs, Pod Point, has rebranded itself simply as Pod and launched Pod Drive, an all-inclusive home EV charging subscription. This marks a significant shift in Pod’s strategy—from being a charger manufacturer to becoming a full-service provider focused on making EV ownership more accessible.
The rebrand highlights Pod’s new focus: going beyond hardware to deliver seamless charging experiences. Pod Drive is the first product to showcase this vision. It offers a cheaper and more convenient way for UK drivers to charge their EVs at home, removing the traditional barrier of high upfront costs.

Instead of paying around £1,249 to buy and install a charger, customers pay just £99 upfront. The subscription costs £40 a month and includes a Solo 3S charger, installation, surge protection, a lifetime warranty, and a 48-hour service guarantee. The plan works with any energy provider and any EV model.
Pod Drive also rewards smart charging with cashback. Customers can earn back money for up to 7,500 “smart charged” miles annually—worth around £170. The system charges the vehicle during off-peak hours to save money and reduce grid strain, while customers keep paying their usual electricity bills.
CEO Melanie Lane emphasised the importance of the rebrand:
“Pod Drive takes the hassle and complexity out of going electric and removes significant barriers in the form of upfront costs. As the original innovator in electric charging, we are constantly working hard to make life with an EV easy for drivers.
Our EV charging heritage means we are well placed to help households shift to clean energy in a way that also helps the UK’s electricity grid. Pod Drive is only the first of a number of everyday electrification propositions we are developing as we expand from providing chargers to helping busy households with all their charging needs. With over 250,000 customers already trusting us to be at the heart of their EV life, we see Pod playing a leading role in the UK’s increasingly electrified future.”
Pod already serves over 250,000 customers. As part of its growth plans, Pod is partnering with major retailers like Tesco and carmakers including Mazda to expand access to Pod Drive.
With this rebrand and new subscription, Pod aims to lead the UK’s rapidly growing EV market—making electric driving simpler, more affordable, and accessible for everyone.
