GRIDSERVE eases the Easter traffic with EV road trip advice for electric drivers across the UK

This Easter could be as busy as it gets, with the RAC forecasting up to 19 million trips across the UK. With more EVs on the road than ever, GRIDSERVE has shared key tips to help electric drivers avoid long waits at charging stations.
The company expects a major spike in demand from Good Friday (April 18) through Easter Monday (April 21). With the school holidays ending the same weekend, the roads—and chargers—will be busier than usual.
GRIDSERVE says its High Power chargers will be around 10% busier than normal. At peak times, that number could rise to 20%. Predictably enough, the busiest time to charge is forecasted to be straight across lunch, between 11am and 1pm.
To beat the crowds, aim to plug in earlier or later. Charging at 9am or 3pm is up to 20% quieter. The best times are before 8am or after 6pm, when demand drops sharply.
GRIDSERVE’s rapid expansion is making this easier year on year. The network added over 50 new charging bays this year. New spots include Killington Lake and Pont Abraham. Busy sites like Toddington North and South also got extra chargers.

That brings the GRIDSERVE network to over 190 locations and 1,400 charging bays across the UK. Its app helps users find chargers, check live availability, and manage sessions remotely. These live updates will be very useful to any Easter road-tripper.
GRIDSERVE officially commented:
“We hope this crucial EV charger data will make it easy for drivers to plan their electric car journeys and avoid unnecessary queues. Our data shows that it’s best to consider switching your lunchtime sandwich stop for a morning coffee stop or mid-afternoon snack break. Of course, some of our charging stations are always busier than others – either because they’re on a key route or perhaps they serve a great vanilla latte or have lovely loos. If your journey is passing by one of these popular sites, then use our app to plot an alternative route via one of our other Electric Super Hubs or Electric Retail Hubs.”
