Be.EV and Paua partner to boost EV charging network in Greater Manchester
Be.EV has partnered with Paua to enhance charging options for EV fleet drivers in Greater Manchester. This collaboration adds 700 new charge points to the Paua network, significantly improving coverage for commercial drivers.
With this partnership, Paua has expanded its network to include 1,800 EV connectors in Greater Manchester. Over 1,000 of those are high-powered DC chargers. This expansion ensures drivers can find at least two charge points within every square mile.
Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV, commented:
“We are very pleased to be working with Paua – a company which shares our mission to bring EV charging to as many people as possible.
The transition of fleet vehicles to electric has the power to bring environmental and sustainability benefits to us all and Paua is an important part of that movement. At Be.EV we are constantly looking for new sites to install our community-focused charging sites and will bring them to Paua customers as they go live.”
Be.EV aims to increase charge point coverage across the North of England, targeting 1,000 installed charge points by the end of 2024. This partnership with Paua is a crucial step toward achieving that goal. However, rural areas like Caithness, Northumberland National Park, and the North Yorkshire Moors still need better coverage. Be.EV is keen to collaborate with landowners to install EV charge hubs near busy roads.
Paua’s network now boasts 54,000 charge points at 17,000 locations across the UK, managed by over 35 providers. This extensive network simplifies the transition to electric fleets for businesses, reducing range anxiety and operational downtime for drivers.
Niall Riddell, Chief Executive and Co-founder of Paua added:
“Be.EV is demonstrating true leadership in ensuring that electric vehicle drivers are catered for across the country. Starting in the North and with the backing of Octopus, extending across the UK ensures drivers get access to high-quality, well-priced, reliable and green electricity. We are delighted to be working with Be.EV.”
