Ohme is new electric vehicle (EV) charging partner for the Waylands Group

Leading electric vehicle (EV) smart charging company Ohme has announced it is now the new official charging partner for the Waylands Group. The agreement will see the Waylands Group recommend Ohme chargers for all of its new and used electrified vehicle sales with an Ohme Home Pro charger in showrooms for customers to view.

The Waylands Group boasts 10 retailers across the Volvo, Kia, MG and Polestar brands as well as its innovative new Waylands E location selling pre-owned EVs and PHEVs. Waylands are also a partner for the EV Live at Blenheim event which showcases the latest electric vehicles and green living technologies. This event, which takes place 7-9 July, offers visitors the opportunity to test drive the latest electric cars through the beautiful grounds of Blenheim Palace and out into the Cotswold countryside beyond.

John O’Hanlon, Waylands Group CEO, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Ohme as our preferred EV home charging supplier. Ohme’s dynamic smart charging capability, award-winning products and excellent customer service made it the obvious choice for Waylands.

“With EVs and PHEVs accounting for almost 30 per cent of our new car sales, the e-mobility revolution is becoming increasingly important and, together with Ohme, the Waylands Group is at the forefront of that change.”

Ohme’s smart chargers can connect with the National Grid in real-time and automatically adjust their charging for drivers to take advantage of all the times of low-price charging with off-peak tariffs. Ohme also offers drivers the option to charge their cars when renewable energy generation on the national grid is at its highest, further lowering their CO2 impact.

David Watson, Ohme CEO, said: “Our partnership with the Waylands Group underlines Ohme’s position as one of the UK’s fastest-growing charging companies.

“Like Ohme, the Group has shown that it’s not afraid to make innovative and brave decisions with the likes of its Waylands E site launched last summer and we’re looking forward to working together to give EV drivers a seamless charging experience with reduced running costs.”

With their unique smart charging software, Ohme’s chargers can connect with the National Grid in real-time and automatically adjust their charging for drivers to take advantage of all the times of low-price charging with smart off-peak tariffs.

A full charge on an all-electric Kia EV6 with an Ohme charger on a smart off-peak tariff, such as Octopus Intelligent, could cost just £7.70 for a driving range of 328 miles (WLTP). This is a massive saving over an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle and the perfect reason to switch to an EV with such savings on running costs.

Ohme also offers drivers the option to charge their car when renewable energy generation on the National Grid is at its highest, further lowering their CO2 impact. Ohme is the official charger provider for Motability Operations, the largest fleet operator in the UK and has just been named as the Best Electric Charging Point Provider by Business Motoring.
