Northe and E.ON Drive accelerate integrations to meet Europe’s EV charging demands

Europe’s EV charging network has reached a major milestone, surpassing one million public charge points. However, experts warn that this is still far from enough to support the rapidly growing number of EVs on the road. To keep pace with demand, companies are accelerating infrastructure expansion. One key partnership driving this change is the collaboration between Northe and E.ON Drive Infrastructure (EDRI).

Feridun Kaya, Head of Commercial at Northe, celebrated the announcement:

“We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with EON, enhancing our shared commitment to seamless EV charging for everyone. This deepened collaboration allows us to deliver even greater value to our customers and accelerate growth in our industry. Together, we are shaping the future with smarter, more efficient solutions.”

Northe, a leading eMobility provider, is strengthening its relationship with E.ON Drive to make EV charging more accessible and efficient. E.ON Drive Infrastructure currently operates over 6,000 charging points across 11 European countries and is adding 1,000 high-power chargers every year. The company focuses on expanding urban charging networks, increasing availability at high-traffic destinations like supermarkets and hotels, and installing ultra-fast chargers along motorways for long-distance travel.

The need for this expansion is urgent. While the European Commission aims to install 3.5 million charge points by 2030, the current rollout is not yet on track to meet this goal. The partnership between Northe and E.ON Drive is a step towards closing this gap. By combining their expertise, the two companies aim to improve charging accessibility for both individual drivers and businesses.

Andreas Zelles, Payment & Roaming Manager at E.ON Drive, commented

“At E.ON Drive Infrastructure, we value strong partnerships that ensure fleets and EV drivers have seamless, hassle-free access to our charging network. Collaborating with Northe helps us enhance the charging experience and expand accessibility across our locations.”

As Europe transitions to emobility, partnerships like this will play a crucial role in building the infrastructure needed to support mass EV adoption. With smarter and more widespread charging solutions, the road to sustainable mobility is becoming clearer.
