- Nissan has confirmed UK pricing for the third-generation Nissan Leaf, with the new EV set to enter the highly competitive £30,000-£35,000 electric car segment.
- Alongside production facilities elsewhere in the world, the new Leaf will also be built at Nissan’s Sunderland factory from December 2025, with first examples arriving to UK customers in February 2026.
- The new entry-level UK Leaf packs a 75kWh battery, offering an impressive range of up to 386 miles – but could an even cheaper Leaf be in the works?
386 mile Nissan Leaf to be priced at £32,249 thanks to government grant
With production of the upcoming Nissan Leaf being based in Sunderland alongside other global production facilities, this has allowed this new EV to qualify for the highest level of the UK government’s recently-introduced Electric Car Grant. This higher-tier £3,750 discount brings the entry ‘Engage’ trim level Leaf down to £32,249. At this price point, the Leaf competes closely with electric hatchbacks such as the Volkswagen ID.3 and Renault Megane E-Tech – whilst offering a chunk more battery range in the process.
Whilst this starting price combined with the Electric Car Grant will make the new Leaf one of the best cheap electric cars available in the UK, there’s a chance that the entry-level price for the Leaf could get even cheaper soon. Unlike the 75kWh battery offered on this launch model, later down the line Nissan will also release a version with a 52kWh battery pack, offering a reduced but still impressive range of 271 miles. Naturally, we would expect this smaller-battery Leaf to be priced even lower. Nissan says pricing of this model will be ‘confirmed at a later date’, but this could push the Leaf closer to the £30,000 mark or even under it.
James Taylor, Managing Director for Nissan Great Britain, commented:
“We’re absolutely delighted to be able to confirm LEAF’s pricing at £32,249 including the electric car grant, which will deliver an accessible route to EV ownership for our customers.
This is fantastic news for people looking to switch to fully electric motoring as they now have the reassurance that comes from a car with up to 386-miles of range, all the tech they could want and the real-world benefits that come from Nissan’s 15 years of EV expertise. Best of all, it’s proudly built right here in the UK!”
