- What for many, is the most beautiful EV out there, just got more attractive, with the Audi e-tron GT facelift revealed this week: the electric super saloon which shares its underpinnings with the Porsche Taycan.
- Alongside mid-life tweaks such as higher maximum charging speeds, and more range, and visual changes, the highest spec e-tron GT ‘Performance’ has taken the crown of the most powerful Audi passenger car ever produced.
- With 912bhp on tap, the e-tron GT Performance will be a rival for both its close sibling, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, and other high performance EVs.
Audi’s electric saloon receives a mid-life update
The e-tron GT family now has three specific trim levels. In increasing order of price, this ranges from the S e-tron GT, RS e-tron GT, to the top-of-the-range RS e-tron GT Performance. All new models benefit from revised styling, while both RS models feature motorsport-inspired styling such as a larger rear diffuser, which integrates a red reflector reminiscent of the brake light you’d see on a Formula E car. Improved batteries mean a driving range of up to 375 miles is on offer, alongside a hiked maximum charging power of 320kW.
The RS e-tron GT performance’s new power figure of 912bhp is impressive, but its sibling, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, trounces that with 1,005bhp. That high range figure, combined with masses of interior and boot space, means the e-tron GT still remains a seriously practical daily driver despite its performance credentials. If you’re looking to buy one of the best electric sports cars, this updated e-tron GT should be on your shortlist.
Gernot Döllner, Chairman of the Board of Management at Audi AG, commented:
“With the e-tron GT models, we are setting new standards in performance. The increased charging power and electric all-wheel drive ensure improved long-distance capability and considerably more performance. The newly developed chassis offers an unprecedented range between driving comfort, ride comfort, and driving dynamics.”
