NASCAR sticks to its sustainability commitments with 30 new EV chargers with FPL and ABB
Despite uncertainties surrounding Trump’s funding withdrawals, NASCAR is not slowing down on its sustainable commitments. The racing organization has teamed up with Florida Power & Light (FPL) and ABB to install 30 new EV chargers at its Daytona Beach headquarters. This is part of NASCAR’s broader commitment to hitting net-zero by 2035, through its IMPACT program.
Riley Nelson, Head of Sustainability at NASCAR, celebrated the installations:
“NASCAR has made material commitments to sustainable operations across its entire business. FPL and ABB will provide NASCAR with valuable guidance, reliable equipment and the support needed to electrify key elements of our operation.”
The chargers are Level 2 and will be available for both employees and industry partners. They will also support the transition to electric fleet vehicles for the organization. NASCAR is focused on shifting its operations from fuel-based emissions to electric power, a key element of its sustainability strategy.

Khalid Mandri, ABB Division President, commented:
“ABB helps industries run leaner and cleaner. The ABB NASCAR Electrification Partnership explores strategic opportunities for electrification throughout the sport, including race vehicles, charging infrastructure, and energy education.”
FPL provided tailored EV charging solutions through its FPL EVolution program. This helps the racing organization meet its goal of building a cleaner, more sustainable operation.
Charger installation is just one of many initiatives under NASCAR IMPACT. The organization is also exploring sustainable racing fuels, expanding recycling programs at tracks, and introducing energy-efficient technologies. They even revealed their first electric race car last year. All to ensure that America’s top racing brand can continue racing for generations to come.
