MG teases with a video of new crossover style electric vehicle (EV)

MG Motor, which saw incredible success in 2021 with its affordable range of electric cars, have released a video on social media teasing about an upcoming launch of a completely new electric vehicle (EV) model. Few details have been released as yet, though.

What we do know, because MG mentions it in the post with the video, is that the new car will be 4,300mm long. That’s a similar size to the Volkswagen ID.3, which comes in at 4,261mm, and from the video, the styling clearly looks like a hatchback or modern crossover-style vehicle.

This smaller hatchback/crossover size car would fit well into MG’s current electric range that includes the MG ZS EV electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) and the MG5 EV electric estate car.

There are rumours that this new model, which was created at MG’s design centre in London, will be called the MG3 EV but we don’t have any official confirmation on this as yet.

We are also wondering if this new model will be even more affordable than the MG ZS EV electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) and the MG5 EV Long Range electric estate that start from £27,495 and £27,945 respectively.

While residents in the UK will have to wait until the fourth quarter of 2022 for its premiere, MG are expected to do a full reveal at the Beijing Motor Show in April. Here, the brand is expected to offer more details including the range and battery size(s) available.

Last year at the show, MG released their vision of the future with their new Cyberster concept electric car. This incredible-looking two-seater sports car recalls the brand’s tradition, drawing a number of styling cues from the classic MGB Roadster.

We expect the range of the new hatchback/crossover to be at least 250 miles (402km) in line with the MG ZS EV electric SUV and the MG5 EV Long Range that offer up to 273 miles (439km) and 250 miles (402km) respectively. We will bring you more details as they’re released.
