Lunaz Resumes Operations with Beckham Backing
Lunaz, the David Beckham-backed firm converting classic cars to electric, is back in action.
Located within Northamptonshire’s Silverstone Park, production ceased at the facility in March due to delays in the ban on the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles from 2030 to 2035.
The firm said it had a:
“new structure that lays the foundations for the long-term sustainable growth of the business”.
Founded in 2019 by David Lorenz, it initially focused on converting classic cars to electric power but later expanded its program to include industrial vehicles and trucks. Beckham invested in the firm and commissioned it to convert one of his cars.
The conversion of commercial vehicles will continue under the Up-cycled Electric Vehicles brand, with trials of the first products scheduled for this summer. The company added that the initial trials would involve the world’s first fully up-cycled and electrified 26-tonne commercial trucks, which will operate as refuse collection vehicles.
Founder and CEO, David Lorenz, said;
“We are delighted to have worked with our clients and stakeholders to create a new structure that lays the foundations for the long-term sustainable growth of the business.
“This ensures we are ready to meet immediate demand for vehicle electrification services and are fit to scale in direct response to volume requirements as major markets build towards legislative bans on internal combustion engine commercial vehicles.”
Looking ahead, Lunaz is poised for a dynamic future in the electric vehicle industry. With its new structure in place, the company is ready to lead in vehicle electrification, starting with trials of the world’s first fully up-cycled and electrified 26-tonne commercial trucks. This marks a bold step towards a cleaner, more sustainable future of transportation.
