Lucid Gravity starting price reduced to $79,900 with new model

Lucid has introduced a new specification for the Lucid Gravity, coming in $15,000 cheaper. Can it now compete with EVs such as the Rivian R1S?
  • Lucid Motors has reduced the base price of its Lucid Gravity electric SUV, currently sold across the USA and Canada.
  • Previously, the Gravity started at around $94,900 USD for the ‘Grand Touring’ specification, but the new Lucid Gravity ‘Touring’ starts at a lower price of $79,900 USD and $113,500 CAD.
  • The lower price of this new specification opens up the prospect of Lucid EV ownership up to a wider audience, and comes as electric cars across North America get more affordable.

Lucid Gravity price drops to $79,900 USD with new model

To achieve this latest and most affordable addition to the Lucid Gravity lineup, there are a number of technical changes over the $94,900 Gravity Grand Touring. The battery capacity of the Gravity Touring has dropped to 89kWh, offering an EPA-estimated range of 337 miles compared to the Gravity Grand Touring’s 450 mile range, whilst power is also down from 828 horsepower to 560 horsepower. But, both of these statistics remain nonetheless impressive for the price, with the electric motor setup still allowing for an impressive 0-60mph time of only four seconds. The Gravity Touring also maintains North American Charging Standard (NACS) compatibility, granting it access to over 25,000 Tesla Supercharger locations and thousands of Electrify America charging sites which are now using NACS connectors.

Crucially, this new $79,900 starting point puts the Gravity directly in line with two electric SUV rivals currently sold in North America. Rivian’s R1S starts at a similar $76,990. The Gravity Touring can also be specified with seven seats, and Volvo’s seven-seat electric option, the EX90, starts at $81,290.

Whilst the Lucid Gravity Touring marks one of the cheapest entry points into the Lucid brand yet, cheaper EVs are still on the way from the brand. Next year, we’re expecting to see the launch of a smaller electric SUV, the Lucid Earth, with a price likely below the $50,000 mark.

Marc Winterhoff, Interim CEO at Lucid, commented:

“The Lucid Gravity Touring unlocks a new audience for the Lucid brand in the broad and critical SUV segment. There’s not another SUV in its segment that can deliver the combination of range, interior space, and driving performance found in the Lucid Gravity Touring.”
