Lotus Emeya: Prices revealed for the electric hyper-GT car

  • Lotus has revealed European pricing for the Emeya, an all-electric hyper-GT car set to take on EV rivals such as the Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT, and Tesla Model S Plaid.
  • The entry level model will start at £94,950 / €106,400, with prices rising to to £107,450 / €126,950 for the Emeya S, and £129,950 / €150,990 for the range-topping Emeya R
  • The Emeya marks the firm’s second production EV, following the Lotus Eletre performance SUV.

The second EV from Lotus

The entry-level model Emeya and more generously-equipped Emeya S will pack an AWD motor setup offering 603bhp, 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds, and an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. The £129,950 Emeya R will be a serious rival for some of the best electric sports cars such as the Tesla Model S Plaid, which starts at around the £115,000 mark. The R ups power to 905bhp, and reduces the 0-62mph sprint to just 2.7 seconds.

Despite its low-slung body, the Emeya is still nearly as practical as its SUV cousin: boot space stands at 509 litres, compared to the Eletre’s 688 litres. The Emeya and Emeya S also offer an impressive range of 379 miles, making them serious mile munchers.

The Emeya, which is already available in China, will arrive to UK and EU customers around the late summer. There’s still no word yet on a North American launch, though Lotus have noted that “further information on market availability” is on the way. The Eletre SUV did reach the US, so there is hope for prospective American customers.

Feng Qingfeng, CEO of Lotus Group, commented:

“Electric cars do not have to be boring. We are combining our rich sports car heritage with the latest cutting-edge technologies to redefine what it means to drive an electric vehicle. Emeya seamlessly blends exceptional ride and handling with world-class luxury, performance, comfort, connectivity, and range – bringing drivers the ultimate grand tourer package with the unrivalled driving experience of a true Lotus.”
