Lexus will announce its first dedicated electric vehicle (EV) model, the RZ, at a digital online launch on April 20, 2022. They haven’t revealed any details as yet but did release the teaser pictures shown here.
From the pictures, the RZ is a sleek looking crossover-style electric vehicle (EV) and typically stylish without being too lairy as we’d expect from the luxury carmaker.
The RZ is based on the same e-TNGA electric platform found on the recently launched Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Soltera electric crossovers. It looks similar but from the pictures, it sits closer to the ground for added aerodynamic efficiency.
Plus, in terms of styling, there are some similarities too, although the front end and grille on the Lexus are different with a more angular and pronounced look. This combined with its low slung stance gives it a sportier look.
There are no battery sizes or performance details available right now but it could come with a similar electric powertrain to the Toyota bZ4X which is the first of Toyota’s bZ range of electric cars. The bZ4X features a 71.4kWh battery that delivers a range of up to 320 miles (516km) for the front-wheel-drive model.
We will bring you full details as they are released.
